More about our ingredients:

  • Sunflower Oil Cake

While the vibrant, strong Sunflower is a recognized worldwide for its beauty, it is also an important source of food. Sunflower oil is a valued and healthy vegetable oil and Sunflower seeds are enjoyed as a healthy, tasty snack and nutritious ingredient to many foods.

Sunflower is an important agricultural crop choice for US producers from the northern plains of the Dakotas to the panhandle of Texas.

The story of Sunflower (Helianthus Annuus ) is indeed amazing. The wild Sunflower is native to North America but commercialization of the plant took place in Russia. It was only recently that the Sunflower plant returned to North America to become a cultivated crop.

Sunflower meal is the by-product of the extraction of oil from Sunflower seeds. Oil is the major value of Sunflower seed and meal is considered a by-product. In the same time, Sunflower meal contains 35% high-quality protein with all essential amino acids. Another valuable nutrient is a dietary fiber.

Fresh Sunflower meal is dried for optimal storage. It can be ground, broken into small pieces or pelletized for easier handling and storage.

Sunflower was never genetically modified (NON-GMO) and is Gluten Free. A major benefit of Sunflower meal is that it does not have anti-nutritional factors such as those found in soybean, cottonseed and rapeseed meals.

  • Potato Starch

Potato starch is made from the peeled potatoes. Being a resistant starch it doesn’t affect blood sugar levels, as your body doesn’t digest it. Your gut bacteria do.

Combined together dietary fiber from Sunflower Oil cake and resistant starch from Potato form a perfect prebiotic to feed your microbiome. Prebiotic passes through the upper digestive tract and stimulates good bacteria growth in the large intestine and colon.

Additionally, prebiotic increases fermentation and the production of short-chain fatty acids like butyrate. Why is this important? Well, these acids lower the pH of our bowel, making it less hospitable for nasty pathogens and bad bacteria. Additionally, butyrate is the preferred fuel of the cells that line the colon.

  • Sunflower Oil

Healthy, natural sunflower oil is produced from sunflower seeds. Sunflower oil is light in taste and appearance and supplies more Vitamin E than any other vegetable oil. The perfect balance of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats makes it perfect for reducing the levels of bad cholesterol. Its nutritious composition makes it one of the healthiest oils for consumption. Contains no trans fat.

  • NuTek Salt for life

Salt for Life® Sea Salt and Potassium Salt Blend has 75% less sodium vs. regular salt and replaces it with Potassium Salt, a necessary and often under-consumed nutrient, all without compromising taste.

Is Sunflower genetically modified (GMO)?

No. Sunflower is not a genetically modified plant (non-GMO). Europe is a large production region for sunflower and the EU will not accept GMO planting seed. The regulatory hurdles in the U.S. are insurmountable at the present time due to possible gene flow to wild sunflower. Without Europe and the U.S. there is not enough market size for the private sector to make the necessary investment in sunflower GMO (Source: National Sunflower Association).
